What are the other oral medications are in the pipeline?
Dr. Chris Bever and Dr. Dennis Bourdette describe what’s currently known about oral MS medications that are in the pipeline—including one called fumarate (or BG-12) that is likely to be approved by the FDA in the next year. Other medications show promise, but are not as far along in development. The main issue is finding a way to reduce their toxicity while preserving their effectiveness. Another area of progress is in developing medications that promote restoration and repair of damaged nerve cells.
