Purpose of the Report

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Performance and Accountability Report (PAR) provides results on VA’s progress towards providing America’s Veterans with the best in benefits and health care.

The PAR contains FY 2009 performance targets and results achieved against those targets during FY 2009.  As such, the PAR is VA’s report card and, in this context, strives to communicate to you, the American people, how well VA has done, the tangible public benefits VA has produced, and the forward-looking strategies we are employing to achieve and maintain excellence.
