Malcolm Cox, M.D. was the Chief Academic Affiliations Officer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, in Washington DC, where he oversaw the largest health professions education program in the United States, including over 100,000 trainees annually in more than 40 different health professions until his retirement in March, 2014.

Dr. Cox is a nationally and internationally known expert in health professions education, with extensive experience in the government, academic and private sectors. Over the past 7 years, he has led a major expansion of VA’s health professions training programs and an intensive re-evaluation of VA’s educational infrastructure and affiliation relationships. At the same time, he has positioned VA as a major voice in educational innovation, clinical workforce reform, leadership development, and organizational transformation.
